Phara’s dad passed away three years ago, and last year she lost her mom. Thankfully she has relatives who have opened their home to her, but they are also unemployed and struggling financially themselves. This means Phara is dealing with the grief of losing both her parents and also the stress of severe financial hardship. A RISING scholarship is a potential light in this dark time, enabling her to stay in school so that she has a brighter future. As a RISING student, she will have access to critical resources and safe spaces to connect and study. She is also already connected with a local mentor who is walking through life and school with her as she seeks to complete her education.

It all starts with access to education. For RISING Students, this means providing whatever each student needs to return to school–tuition, uniforms, lunches, and more.
We all need the help of people who've been there before. RISING mentors care for and encourage the holistic growth of each student–mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
These are the tools students need to succeed, such as access to computers and the Internet and a local Resource Center to study, connect, and grow together.
