Kimberline lives with her mother and little brother, and she explained that they reside in a neighborhood were there is much unemployment and "food and a lot of other things" are luxuries. She told us that she is applying for this scholarship because she is a young person who believes that Haiti can change, and she knows that education will help her to be a part of this change. She was able to fight to make it through her first year of college, and she has started on her second year, but she doesn't have the money to finish. This scholarship will enable her to complete her sophomore year at the University of Port-Au-Prince.

It all starts with access to education. For RISING Students, this means providing whatever each student needs to return to school–tuition, uniforms, lunches, and more.
We all need the help of people who've been there before. RISING mentors care for and encourage the holistic growth of each student–mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
These are the tools students need to succeed, such as access to computers and the Internet and a local Resource Center to study, connect, and grow together.
