Ronaldson is now in his 4th year with the program, and he will be starting his junior year of high school this fall. He lives with his aunt, and she keeps the family fed by working as a cook, but she only makes just enough to get by. Because of this, RISING scholarships have been a lifeline for Ronaldson.
He grew up in Carrefour, but his family just recently moved to Gressier which is about 20 minutes away. This is good for them in many ways because Gressier is a nicer area, and they will have a better housing situation. However, it's a difficult move for Ronaldson because he will miss all of his friends in Carrefour. Because of this, he will continue to attend school in Carrefour, but he needs to take bus (tap-tap) to school every day, so his costs will increase. This scholarship will enable him to stay at his school in Carrefour and afford the cost of transportation.

It all starts with access to education. For RISING Students, this means providing whatever each student needs to return to school–tuition, uniforms, lunches, and more.
We all need the help of people who've been there before. RISING mentors care for and encourage the holistic growth of each student–mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
These are the tools students need to succeed, such as access to computers and the Internet and a local Resource Center to study, connect, and grow together.
