About the Student

For years Diemmy has struggled to stay in school. Life has been a challenge for him because his mother died when he was a child, and he was raised by his elderly aunt who has limited means of supporting him. This left him on his own with little opportunity to get a job. When we met Diemmy, he was living in a tent in his friend's yard and doing odd jobs such as hauling water or assisting local masons. He was able to survive but seldom saved up enough to stay in school for long. He is now in his 20's and has yet to graduate but that is not for a lack of effort. Thanks to the generous support of Watermark Church, he was able to consistently attend classes last year and he passed all of his junior exams. He is excited to continue his senior year and with your support his dream of graduating high school can become a reality.

Diemmy is another graduate for this year, and he is anxious to take his final exams and graduate. He continues to live in a little shelter in his friend’s yard, and he also has started a small business selling charcoal to cover his living expenses outside of school. His goal is to attend law school after he graduates which will be a four year program. He says when he’s not working or in school he likes to be social and hang out with friends. His message for you as his donors is that he is very thankful and he hopes you will continue to do such a good job by helping other students with their school.

RISING Scholarships Include:

It all starts with access to education. For RISING Students, this means providing whatever each student needs to return to school–tuition, uniforms, lunches, and more.

We all need the help of people who've been there before. RISING mentors care for and encourage the holistic growth of each student–mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

These are the tools students need to succeed, such as access to computers and the Internet and a local Resource Center to study, connect, and grow together.
