Denise is currently in her second year of nursing school. She comes from a large family, and they live in a very poor neighborhood of Carrefour where there is very little opportunity. The recent political struggles of the country have only added to the financial challenges that they face, yet Denise is determined to continue her education so that she can one day achieve a better life for her and her family. To go to school, she gets up early every day and catches a 6am bus into Port-Au-Prince. The trip is not easy. It's a crowded, dusty, bumpy ride, and she must pass through some rough areas of town, but this does not dissuade her. This scholarship will provide Denise with the financial assistance she needs to finish the school year.

It all starts with access to education. For RISING Students, this means providing whatever each student needs to return to school–tuition, uniforms, lunches, and more.
We all need the help of people who've been there before. RISING mentors care for and encourage the holistic growth of each student–mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
These are the tools students need to succeed, such as access to computers and the Internet and a local Resource Center to study, connect, and grow together.
