Joel is a fun loving young man with a big heart and an incredibly strong work ethic, but life has been challenging for him. His mother died in 2004, leaving behind him, his father, and 6 other siblings. Now 4 more siblings have come along, and though his dad is a skilled mason, he struggles to find work and has no way of providing for the education of all 11 children. This scholarship will enable Joel to complete his first year of trade school where he will study to be a mechanic.

It all starts with access to education. For RISING Students, this means providing whatever each student needs to return to school–tuition, uniforms, lunches, and more.
We all need the help of people who've been there before. RISING mentors care for and encourage the holistic growth of each student–mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
These are the tools students need to succeed, such as access to computers and the Internet and a local Resource Center to study, connect, and grow together.
